Results: 91 projects in the former provinces of Antananarivo, Antsiranana, Fianarantsoa, Mahajanga and Toliary
Main achievements:
Development in the South:
- Agriculture and rural development in the South: 14 agricultural support projects in the regions of Bekily, Ambovombe, Tsihombe
- Well-digging in the Tsihombe and Amboasary Sud regions
- 9 education projects (schools and similar) in Ambovombe, Bekily, Tsihombe, Toliary, Morondava
- Rehabilitation of Amboasary Sud market, dredging of Morondava port
Other regions:
- 16 school rehabilitations and new construction projects, 24 drinking water supply projects, 12 road rehabilitation projects (tracks, bridges, and culverts)
Goals
- Meeting the development needs of local communities.
- Strengthen and rehabilitate priority infrastructure on the initiative of local authorities.
- To give ownership of the projects only to their direct beneficiaries.
- To apply a strategy of prioritizing the viability and sustainability of actions by selecting projects that are a strict priority for the beneficiary groups.
- To give maximum responsibility to the beneficiaries in all phases of the project.
- Align economic sectors with the main development objectives of the country.
Eligibility criteria
- The need is expressed by the community itself.
- The need is a priority.
- The project will have an economic and social impact on the life of the community.
- The idea for the project comes from the community or some of its members.
- The community itself designs the project or is actively involved in the design phase (with the help of an NGO, the Cellule d'Opération itself, or a Consulting firm).
- The community itself implements the project or plays a significant role in its implementation.
- The local authority organizes the operation, management and maintenance of the work carried out.
